Amanda’s Wellbeing Workouts

Our Engagement Worker, Amanda, has been busy working to support her members keep their minds and bodies active during lockdown.

One of the women she supports is in a wheelchair and was feeling demotivated and isolated during lockdown, so Amanda had an idea! She encouraged her member to find a fitness video they could do together, and now every week, they find time to meet up for 20 minutes in a video chat and do their workout routine.

As an engagement worker, Amanda wants to support the well-being of all her members, while finding person centred ways to meet the needs of every individual.

Amanda said “It’s great, and my member has told me she looks forward to the workout, as it helps her well-being and mental health. She normally looks forward to going to the gym, but hasn’t been able to during lockdown. By doing this, we both have fun, it help keep us socially connected, and it motivates both of us to keep fit and active together!”

But Amanda hasn’t stopped there. She is now doing the workout for Shelter staff each week, leading an online fitness class for homeworking staff as well.
