From pavement to progress

For someone like myself making progress in life once felt impossible.

After all less than 10 months ago I was begging on the pavements of Manchester with little hope, no future and no solution to the issues that had taken me to the streets. Life, however, would turn out to still have plans for this addict and after 8 months of hard won steps in the right direction I am making really positive progress in my life.

One of the cornerstones to my recovery has been Inspiring Change Manchester. By getting involved with the core group and its various activities I have been able to grow in confidence as a person and more importantly I feel I am now walking away from the stigma of being an addict. I now feel valued as someone with lived experience who can use that experience to help improve the lives of others who are going through what I have been through.

With every step I have made I have been supported and encouraged by ICM to believe in myself that little bit more and push myself that little bit further. And with their help I can now see a much brighter future for myself, a future far from the struggles I faced not so long ago. I would encourage anyone with lived experience to come to ICM, join the core group and give it a try. If it worked for me, it can work for you!
